Vote on Your Ignite FinCon Speakers!

Over the last couple of months, we have had 17 amazing submissions for Ignite talks at FinCon12. Sadly, though, we don’t have time for everyone to speak. That is where you come in.

How to Vote

The selection of “sparks” (Ignite lingo for a 5 minute talk) is a democratic process. We need you to head to our voting form and vote for your top topics.

To make sure you actually read through the submissions and don’t just vote for your friends, you have to vote on each topic. You have three ways to vote. You can pick not interested, maybe, or OMG I NEED TO SEE THIS.

Based on your votes, we will use a weighted calculation to pick our top speakers and put together a great slate for you for Ignite FinCon.

Our Ignite Event

We have a lot in store to make Ignite a memorable and fun event for everyone.

We are going to get out of the hotel and spend late Friday evening at The Mercury Cafe, a Denver staple for swing and tango dancing that happens to be three blocks from our hotel.

If you are not familiar with Ignite, it is a unique speaking event where a series of speakers has exactly five minutes to share something educational, insightful, and/or entertaining with the audience.

There is a catch though. Each speaker has to have exactly 20 slides set on a 15 second auto-advance.

I have spoken at two Ignite events and have attended a handful more. Each Spark is unique, fun, and I have never had a bad time.

Now Vote Already

Just head to the Ignite FinCon homepage and check out our voting form. It only takes a couple of minutes.

I’ve never seen one of these events before, but I’m hoping it will be a darn good time. Also hoping everyone votes for me and my topic!

  2. I’m pumped. 20 slides in 5 minutes is CRAZY – but I’m up for the challenge :) Hope I get to speak!

Are tickets to Ignite FinCon free, included, or do we need to sign up via Eventbrite (here in Colorado, at least. Eventbrite handles Ignite tickets)? I’m just wondering if I need to register in advance if I am bringing a spouse.

  4. Woot!  Voting now, slightly biased though ;)
