FinCon and GoBankingRates.com are teaming up to honor the best personal finance experts in the industry.
Following the format of the Olympic Games, participants will compete against each other in qualifying heats, then move on to the finals for a chance to win a gold, silver or bronze medal and cash prize.
We Cordially Invite You to Compete in the Personal Finance Olympics
We’re asking competitors to submit articles within one of the following four categories to officially enter themselves in the PF Olympics:
- Approaches to Building and Using Credit
- Strategies for Getting out of Debt
- Best Ways to Earn and Save Money
- Cutting-Edge Banking Technology
First, second and third place winners in each category will move on to the finals — at which point we will announce the final topic to be written on. The three winners of the final games will be awarded medals at FinCon during the official Medal Ceremony.
The first place winner overall, the gold medalist, will receive a $1000 American Express Gift Card; the second place winner, the silver medalist, will earn a $250 AMEX Gift Card; and the third place winner, the bronze medalist, will collect a $100 AMEX Gift Card.

When is the Event?
- Now through July 29 - Initial Qualifying Heat Entries Accepted
- July 16 – July 29 - Qualifying Heat Voting Takes Place
- July 30 - Finalists Announced
- July 30 – August 5 - Final Heat Entries Accepted
- August 6 – 12 - Final Heat Voting
Winners will be awarded at an evening event at #FinCon12 on September 7th.
